Under the British government’s online safety bill, Ofcom will be empowered to control social networks to prevent content related to terrorism or child sexual exploitation.

So Meta’s proprietary app is not happy with this legislation.
In April, an open letter issued by other messaging companies including WhatsApp and Signal said the new bill would not protect users from encryption and called for Ofcom to scan users’ private messages. will go, which in turn will affect the privacy of users.

In March, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart said in an interview that we will accept a ban on WhatsApp in the UK, but will not compromise on security protocols.
He said”We will leave the UK if we feel we are being forced to compromise consumer security,”because we believe end-to-end encryption is critical to maintaining consumer confidence in data protection.
He said that neglecting the security of WhatsApp users in the UK could cause problems for users around the world and it is a very important question that should be given full attention as there is no way that Only one country in the world should be changed.
