WhatsApp allows users to lock their chats to increase their conversations’ security.
Once a chat is locked, it can only be accessed using the phone’s passcode or the user’s fingerprint, providing more privacy and preventing unauthorized access.
Locking a chat on WhatsApp is a simple process and can be done within the app’s settings.
According to a report by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp, now owned by Meta, is said to be developing a new feature for its users. The instant messaging app is reportedly working on a feature enabling users to lock and hide their chats from others.
According to WaBetaInfo, a tech website that tracks new features on WhatsApp, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.2 update available on the Google Play Store includes a new feature that allows users to lock and hide chats from others. The feature will be released for all users in a future update.
This feature, once available, will allow users to lock specific chats with a passcode or fingerprint, providing an additional layer of security for their sensitive information.
The feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.2 update on the Google Play Store and will be rolled out to all users in a future update. The report further states that users can lock their most private chats directly within the chat’s contact or group info.

Once a chat is added to the locked list, it will only be available within the screen. If someone tries to access these chats and fails, they must clear the chat to open it.
Additionally, the feature will prevent media files from being automatically saved to the device’s gallery. This feature is currently under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
