Three former members of the National Assembly, including Asad Umar, challenged the acceptance of the resignation

Asad Umar, Raja Khurram, and Ali Nawaz Awan challenged the acceptance of resignation in the Islamabad High Court. Barrister Ali Zafar and Barrister Gohar Ali applied.

According to the appeal, the Electoral Commission accepted the resignations of certain PTI members in a notification published on 17 January 2023; our resignations included 123 members, all of whom had to be de-seated.

It was sought that the de-notification be overturned by accepting and reinstating the resignations and that the court postpones the execution of the resignations until the final judgment was reached. It was also asked that the Election Commission and the Speaker of the National Assembly postpone their announcement.

The complaint named the Federal Gov’t, the Speaker of a National Assembly, the General secretary Assembly, and thus the Advisory Council among respondents.
