On the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against implementing Article 144 in Lahore, the Election Commission has sought a report from the caretaker government of Punjab.
In the letter sent to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, the Election Commission has asked that the Chief Secretary Punjab submit a report on the issue within 24 hours.
It has been said in the post that the Election Commission is bound to conduct transparent and peaceful elections under the Constitution, and a report should be submitted within 24 hours regarding the request of Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

In the announcement issued by the Election Commission, it has also been said that the Election Commission will consider further action plans in light of the report of the Punjab government.
It should be remembered that Imran Khan announced taking out a rally in Lahore on March 12 and said he would lead the rally himself, while the caretaker government of Punjab imposed Section 144 in Lahore on March 12.
