PESHAWAR: The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded to do elections for national and provincial assemblies in the country on the same day.
The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a meeting on the current political situation, which was chaired by caretaker provincial minister Masood Shah.
Explaining the details of the decisions of the Cabinet meeting, the Caretaker Information Minister Feroz Jamal Shah said that the Caretaker Cabinet has expressed serious reservations on the order of the Supreme Court to do elections of the Punjab Assembly in May and has demanded that the elections of the National and Provincial Assemblies be held on the same day in the country.
Feroze Jamal Shah said that the Constitution is a sacred document and that observance of the Constitution is the responsibility of every institution.
He further said that there are fears that the Punjab Assembly elections will be affected by the Punjab Assembly elections early. In the history of the country, national and provincial elections have never been held on separate dates.
The caretaker information minister said that the current law and order situation in the province is not suitable for general elections.
