The Sindh government has announced its plan to introduce the Peoples Bus Service on the Lyari Expressway in Karachi, aimed at alleviating the commuting difficulties faced by the public. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who also oversees the transport and mass transit portfolios.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, it was agreed to initiate the Peoples Bus Service on the Lyari Expressway as a means to address the transportation issues faced by the people. The meeting included briefings from Muneer Memon, a member of the National Highway Authority (NHA), and Javed Ali Mahar, the DIG Highways and Motorway Police, regarding the traffic flow on the expressway. It was decided to conduct a survey and commence a trial run of the buses on the expressway.

Mr. Memon expressed his belief that the introduction of the Peoples Bus Service on the Lyari Expressway would help alleviate the burden on roads caused by traffic congestion. The Sindh government is committed to providing the best travel facilities to the public.
The Lyari Expressway serves as a route between Sohrab Goth and Mauripur, catering to traffic in both directions. Currently, the NHA permits the use of the expressway for cars, wagons/pickups, and mini-trucks upon payment of the prescribed toll.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including Transport Secretary Saleem Rajput, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kamal Dayo, Additional Secretary-Transport Kiran Shaikh, DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, Shoaib Ahmed, Abdul Shakur Arain, and others.
