Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Pervez Khattak, who recently resigned as the president of the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, is reportedly considering joining Jahangir Tareen’s “Istehkam-e-Pakistan” party, according to sources.
It is said that Khattak has been in contact with Jahangir Tareen and may join his party in the coming days along with his associates. Sources suggest that Khattak is likely to assume the role of general secretary in the Istehkam-e-Pakistan party.
Earlier, it was revealed that Khattak would be launching his own political party, and it is expected that several PTI members who have left the party will join this new political setup.
Jahangir Tareen officially launched the Istihkam-e-Pakistan party yesterday, with the participation of various PTI deserters, including former governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Amir Kiani, Sardar Tanveer Illyas, Mahmood Molvi, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Ali Zaidi, Fayyaz ul Hasan Chauhan, Fawad Chaudhary, and Nauman Langrhial, who attended the press conference.
During the announcement of the new political party, Istihkam-e-Pakistan, Jahangir Tareen stated that their main objective is to work for the development of Pakistan. He expressed disappointment that despite their efforts for reforms in PTI, the party did not adhere to its manifesto, which led to disillusionment among the people.
Jahangir Tareen emphasized the need for leadership that can unite and bridge the societal divisions amid the economic and political crises. He also highlighted the importance of holding the perpetrators and masterminds of the May 9 riots accountable, stating that failure to do so would be detrimental to the country.
