ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of 6 paise in the per unit price of electricity. In a notification issued by Nepra, electricity distribution companies have been approved to reduce monthly fuel adjustment charges by 6 paise per unit for February.
According to the certification, the Central Power Purchasing Authority (CPPA) had requested an increase of 85 paise per unit. The authority held a public hearing on the FCA on March 30, 2023. Nepra says that earlier the January FCA was charged to consumers with an increase of 48 paise per unit which was only for one month. FCA for February will be charged 48 paise less per unit than in January. This will be applicable only to April bills.

According to the notification, the reduction will be applicable to all consumers of DISCOs, domestic consumers up to 300 units, agricultural consumers and electric vehicle charging stations, but it will not be applicable to our electric and lifeline consumers.
