Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, addressing a public gathering in Lahore from London, extended congratulations to the nation on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer. He reflected on his decision to make Pakistan a nuclear power despite facing offers of billions of dollars and threats to deter the nuclear test. According to him, Pakistan’s nuclear capability symbolizes the defense and dignity of the country.
Nawaz Sharif expressed frustration at the hindrances faced in the journey toward economic development. He highlighted the significant depreciation of the Pakistani rupee, with the USD value rising from Rs 104 in 2017 to over 300 currently. He also noted the substantial increase in the price of flour, from Rs 33 per kg to Rs 120 per kg.

Earlier, PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz accused PTI leader Imran Khan of inciting youth for the May 9 violence. She highlighted Nawaz Sharif’s prioritization of national interest and his decision to make Pakistan a nuclear power despite international pressure. Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the events of May 9 and May 28, 1998, reflect the mindset of the PML-N leadership.
Maryam Nawaz strongly criticized Imran Khan and the PTI, accusing them of causing harm to the country and then questioning the legal action taken against their supporters involved in violence. She issued a warning that terrorism cases would be filed against those engaging in such acts.
