Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has given Imran Khan till tomorrow to appear in the case against the cases of sedition, attempted murder, and vandalism of the judicial complex.
The court, while accepting Imran Khan’s request for exemption from attendance today, remarked that if Imran Khan does not appear tomorrow, the bail applications will be dismissed. Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar assured the court that if he had to come in an ambulance tomorrow, he would come.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the bail applications of Imran Khan in 9 cases. Imran Khan’s lawyers Salman Safdar and Faisal Chaudhry while Advocate General Islamabad Barrister Jahangir Jadoon appeared before the court.
Earlier, the court expressed displeasure over Imran Khan’s non-appearance in his personal capacity when the hearing of the case began. The court had warned that if Imran Khan does not appear during court hours, the interim bail will be canceled.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq inquired that where are the petitioners? Lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha said that he could not come and therefore filed an exemption application. The Chief Justice asked where is the immunity application, to which the lawyer replied that the application has been filed.
The Chief Justice remarked that if the petitioner Imran Khan does not appear before the court time, the interim bail will be dismissed. Courts have been made a joke. Either we have come down or they have come up. The court had also adjourned the hearing till the appearance of Imran Khan during court hours.
It should be noted that despite the court order to ensure attendance, Imran Khan did not appear. Imran Khan has filed a request for exemption from attendance on medical grounds.
