The Sindh government has announced subsidies on urea and fertilizers for farmers affected by the recent floods, aiming to alleviate their financial burden. The announcement was made on Thursday.
Under the scheme, the Sindh government will provide a subsidy of Rs 60,000 on Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and urea to flood-affected farmers. A total of 234,313 farmers will benefit from this subsidy program, as stated by Manzoor Wassan, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The subsidy will be available to farmers who own land between one acre and one and a half acres. Additionally, a second phase of the subsidy program is currently being implemented, which will provide Rs 5,000 per acre to farmers.
By providing subsidies on urea and fertilizers, the Sindh government aims to support farmers in continuing their agricultural activities and recovering from the losses incurred due to the floods. This initiative will help ensure the stability and productivity of the agricultural sector in the region.
