Punjab Food Department recovered thousands of sacks of sugar while conducting operations in Muridke and Sadiqabad.
According to the Food Department, four warehouses of a flour mill were raided in Muridke near Lahore, from where 30,000 sacks of sugar worth around Rs 18 crore were recovered.
The second operation was carried out in a factory in Sadiqabad, where 6 thousand sacks of sugar hidden between sacks of rice were caught.
Secretary Food Zaman Wattoo says that these sacks of sugar were stored illegally, the illegal hoarders and smugglers will be brought to justice, a case was registered against the mill management, and the mill was sealed.
According to the food secretary, this sugar was to be smuggled to Afghanistan, and the value of this sugar is Rs 4 crore.
