However, Malakand DIG Nasir Mehmood Satti has stated that the explosion was not a result of any terrorist activity or suicide blast but was caused by “carelessness” at a weapon storage facility inside an old office of the Counter Terrorism Department on the premises of the police station. The initial investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
Strongly condemn suicide attack on CTD police station in Swat. Nation is deeply grieved over martyrdom of police officials. Our police has been the first line of defence against terrorism. We will not rest until we eliminate this scourge. My condolences to bereaved families.

According to a senior CTD official, among the three slain militants was Nouman, who was allegedly involved in the killing of a retired military officer on Sunday. Nouman was killed in an exchange of fire at the house of a militant commander named Zubair in the Paharkhel Tal area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Lakki Marwat police station. The Tipu Gul group is believed to be responsible for several terrorist activities in the region.
