WhatsApp is rolling out two exciting new features, ‘screen sharing’ and ‘edit message,’ for its beta users on Android, enhancing the user experience and communication capabilities.
The ‘screen sharing’ feature allows users to share their screens with others, enabling real-time viewing of documents, photos, and other content on their devices. By tapping on the attachment icon in a chat and selecting the “Screen Share” option, beta users can initiate this feature, allowing recipients to see their screens. It provides a more effective way of sharing information and collaborating.
Note that currently, this feature is exclusive to WhatsApp beta users on Android, providing them with an early access opportunity to explore and benefit from the screen-sharing capability.
In addition to screen sharing, WhatsApp has introduced the ‘edit message’ feature. Users now have the ability to make changes to messages they have already sent. By long-pressing a message and selecting the Edit option from the menu, users can edit the text within the first 15 minutes after sending the message.
Transparency is maintained as edited messages are labeled as “Edited” when viewed by others, preventing any secretive actions. However, the edit history itself remains invisible.
These new features exemplify WhatsApp’s commitment to improving its messaging platform and providing users with enhanced functionalities. While screen sharing facilitates seamless content sharing, the edit message feature allows for timely corrections and updates to ensure effective communication.
