Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a committee, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, to develop budget proposals aimed at benefiting the public and providing relief to the poor, according to reports from Islamabad.
Sources indicate that the committee will comprise members such as Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Musadik Malik, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Dr. Jahanzeb, Shazia Fatima, Ahmed Umair, Asif Mir, and other officials from the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and related ministries. The committee’s primary task is to finalize recommendations that will ensure facilities and relief for the underprivileged segments of society.
The committee’s focus is to provide relief and facilities to the general public. It will develop its suggestions before the upcoming budget for the financial year 2023-24.
According to sources, the committee will propose measures to alleviate the burden on laborers, small-scale farmers, and low-ranking employees. It will also suggest further reductions in the prices of petroleum products and strive to balance the prices of essential commodities, agricultural produce, fertilizers, and seeds. The committee aims to offer relief measures specifically targeted at small farmers within the agriculture sector.
The formation of this committee reflects the government’s commitment to formulating a budget that prioritizes the welfare of the people and addresses the needs of vulnerable groups. By focusing on providing relief to the less privileged and implementing measures to control essential commodity prices, the committee aims to create a more favorable economic environment for the citizens of Pakistan.
