Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Abrar ul Haq and Saifullah Niazi have officially resigned from the party in the aftermath of the May 9 violence, during which military installations, including the Corps Commander House in Lahore, were attacked. Abrar ul Haq, a well-known singer and PTI leader, made the announcement during a press conference, explaining that he no longer sees a purpose in remaining with the party. He emphasized his upbringing in a family with a political and military background and expressed his desire to contribute to the betterment of the country. Abrar ul Haq also expressed deep respect for the martyrs, stating that free education is provided to the children of martyrs in the medical college he attended.
Senator Saifullah Khan Niazi, in a separate press conference, also declared his departure from the PTI. He cited the need to prioritize his personal life, especially his family and health, as the reason for his decision. Senator Niazi condemned the violent attacks that occurred on May 9 during his announcement.

It is noteworthy that several PTI lawmakers and members have chosen to part ways with the party following the May 9 violence, which involved the targeting of military installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander House in Lahore. Former human rights minister Shireen Mazari and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry have previously resigned from the PTI in response to the events on May 9.
