Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the implementation of measures to provide relief to the public in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2022-23, according to resources.
During a meeting with Minister of State for Finance Aisha Ghous Pasha in Lahore, the prime minister commended the efforts of the economic team in stabilizing the economy despite the challenges faced. He asserted that the economy has been brought from a difficult situation to a state of stability.
PM Shehbaz recalled the significant relief package that was provided to the victims of unprecedented floods in the country. He stated that steps are being taken to ensure that the reduction in petroleum prices directly benefits the common man.
The Minister of State briefed the prime minister on the progress made regarding the upcoming budget, public relief initiatives, and the overall economic situation of the country.
In a previous meeting held in May, PM Shehbaz Sharif directed the government’s economic team to utilize all available resources to maximize relief for the common man in the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24. He emphasized the importance of minimizing the financial hardships faced by the middle and lower income segments of society.
During the meeting, the economic team provided an update on budget preparations, revised targets for tax collection in the current fiscal year, and proposed targets for the next fiscal year. It was informed that after receiving approval from the federal cabinet, the budget for 2023-24 will be presented on June 9.
The focus on public relief in the upcoming budget reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by the people and improving their overall well-being.
