The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, clarified on Sunday that the government has not made any decisions regarding the house arrest of Imran Khan, the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Following Khan’s arrest in a corruption case on May 9, which the military labeled as a “Black Day,” his party faced the wrath of the state’s power as enraged PTI workers attacked military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

During a press conference in Lahore, the interim chief minister addressed reports suggesting that Khan’s residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, could be declared a sub-jail, and he could be placed under house arrest. Naqvi denied such claims, stating that no decision has been taken by the authorities.

Among those arrested in connection with the May 9 violence are thousands of workers, including women. The PTI alleges mistreatment of their female supporters in prisons. In response, Imran Khan appealed to the judiciary to intervene, urging the Supreme Court to take notice of the alleged mistreatment of PTI’s female workers during their time behind bars.

Contradicting these claims, Chief Minister Naqvi asserted that the treatment of women has been in accordance with the law. He accused the PTI of propagating false information regarding the mistreatment of women in prisons and emphasized that his government is committed to ensuring the safety of mothers and sisters.

CM Naqvi revealed that 32 women were initially arrested, and currently, only 11 of them remain in jail. He further stated that the events that unfolded on May 9 were unprecedented, vowing that the government would not show any restraint, regardless of how influential the suspected attackers of Jinnah House might be.

During the press conference, a question was raised about Khadija Shah, a PTI supporter who is currently in police custody. CM Naqvi confirmed that an identity parade would be conducted for Shah. This query arose due to a viral video on social media in which Shah apologized for her “actions” on May 9.

In conclusion, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab dismissed rumors of Imran Khan’s house arrest, reiterating that no decision had been made by the government regarding this matter.
