Usman Khan, a Pakistani-born cricketer, has set his sights on representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in cricket, deviating from the expectations of playing for his home country. The 28-year-old garnered significant attention earlier this year when he achieved the fastest century in the history of the Pakistan Super League.
While many anticipated his inclusion in the Pakistani cricket team, Usman revealed that his ultimate dream is to don the UAE jersey, where he currently resides. With determination and hard work, he aims to secure a spot in the UAE national team and, one day, compete against Pakistan to showcase his talent to his home country.

Usman stated, “My dream is not to play for Pakistan. My dream is to play for UAE. I am working hard to achieve that. One day, I want to play against Pakistan and show them what I can do. I am waiting for the right opportunity.” To be eligible for selection in the UAE team, Usman must fulfill the International Cricket Council’s three-year residency criteria.
Despite his participation in various leagues outside of Pakistan, including the Pakistan Super League and the Bangladesh Premier League, there is hope that Usman will meet the necessary requirements and become eligible for selection later this year.
Usman Khan’s aspirations to represent the UAE cricket team demonstrate his commitment to pursuing his dreams. While he has gained recognition for his cricketing prowess, his ultimate goal is to prove his abilities on the international stage and make a mark, even if it means playing against his country of origin.
