Karachi: Senior journalist Sami Abraham was reportedly abducted by unidentified individuals in Islamabad on Wednesday, according to family sources. The family claimed to have no information about his whereabouts.
Sources mentioned that Mr. Abraham was arrested by the police, but a statement issued by the capital police assured cooperation with the journalist’s family and pledged to spare no effort in locating him.
Ali Raza, the brother of Mr. Abraham, has filed an abduction complaint at Aabpara Police Station.
According to the complaint, Mr. Abraham was intercepted by four cars on the service road of Sixth Avenue at Sector G-6 around 9 pm. This occurred after he left the BOL TV offices and was on his way home. Approximately eight to ten unidentified men emerged from the vehicles and forcibly took him with them.
At the time of the incident, Mr. Abraham’s driver, Arshad, was present. The abductors left the driver behind and took Mr. Abraham along with them.
The complaint stated that the individuals also seized three mobile phones belonging to the driver and Mr. Abraham, as well as the car keys.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Abraham’s alleged abduction remain unclear, and the family and authorities are actively working to ascertain his location and ensure his safe return.
