ISLAMABAD: The inflation rate in the country has gained momentum.
During the recent week, the rise in inflation hit top gear and the inflation rate increased by another 1.37 percent, while the increase in the inflation rate on an annual basis reached 42.27 percent.
In the recent week, 29 essential commodities became expensive and 8 became cheaper in the country, while the prices of 14 remained stable.
The report said that the rate of inflation has increased by 1.37 percent. A total of 29 essential commodities including milk increased.
Tomato 12.43%, onion 9.26%, potato 11.37%, sugar 5.48%, cooking oil 4.27%, flour 4.97%, vegetable ghee 4.01%, yogurt 1.89%, milk 1.82%, tea 1.79%, salt 1.21% and basmati rice 1 percent became expensive.
While 8 items became cheaper: chicken 6.73, garlic 2.07, moong dal 0.83, masoor dal 0.50, eggs 0.77, LPG 0.26 percent, chickpea dal 0.05, firewood 0.12 percent became cheaper.
In terms of the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), the rate of inflation in the country has increased by 42.27 percent as compared to the same period last year.
For the group with income up to 17 thousand 732 rupees per month, the inflation for them increased by 39.09%.
