Lahore: Punjab police have claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close aides were involved in coordinating efforts to storm the residence of the Lahore corps commander and other public buildings, citing a geo-fencing report.
According to the report, police discovered more than 400 calls made by Imran Khan and other senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) allegedly inciting party workers to move towards the military officer’s residence in Lahore Cantt and other sensitive buildings. It was observed that all the rioters were in contact with the PTI’s top leadership based in Zaman Park.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, confirmed the existence of the geo-fencing record and the alleged use of Imran Khan’s residence for planning the attack on the corps commander’s residence.
A senior officer, speaking anonymously, stated that significant revelations were made from the analysis of the geo-fencing record. It was discovered that 154 calls were allegedly made by Imran Khan to party leaders and rioters, urging them to attack. The officer identified Imran Khan as the “prime suspect” who allegedly orchestrated the attack on the corps commander’s house.
The officer further explained that call records showed all the phone calls were made on May 8 and May 9, the day of Imran Khan’s arrest, to mobilize workers for the attack. He claimed that a total of 225 callers were in contact with six PTI leaders: Hammad Azhar, Yasmin Rashid, Mahmoodur Rasheed, Ejaz Chaudhary, Aslam Iqbal, and Murad Ras. These leaders were allegedly issuing specific instructions to the rioters. The officer also mentioned that Dr. Yasmin Rashid received 41 calls from various party activists.
According to the records, Hammad Azhar made 10 calls to the suspects, while Mahmoodur Rasheed received 75 calls from the alleged attackers. Ejaz Chaudhary, Aslam Iqbal, and Murad Ras received 50, 16, and 23 calls, respectively.
