According to a report compiled by the Digital Shadows Photon research team, nearly 25 billion phone numbers, email addresses, credit card details, and login details were put up for sale last year.
Criminals can use Internet users’ bank account information to buy things, get medical care, and health insurance, and commit crimes in the name of users.
Although users cannot remove their information from the dark web, there are websites where users can check if their information is on the dark web.
The dark web is one of the three dimensions of the Internet. Unlike the World Wide Web, the Dark Web cannot be accessed through normal search engines. To access the dark web, Internet users use an identity-encrypting browser called ‘TOR’, through which users can navigate the anonymous world beneath the surface of the everyday Internet with complete anonymity.

In this anonymous world, illegal activities of extreme nature are carried out, including child pornography, human trafficking, assassins for hire and other illegal items with easy access.
According to the research report, about 6.7 billion ID passwords were submitted on the dark web in 2022, which means that the ID password combination was not the same across the entire database.
