Three Pakistani cricketers have recently signed direct contracts with different franchises ahead of the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
As per media reports, Babar Azam and Naseem Shah have been signed by Colombo Strikers, while left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman has been picked by Kandy Falcons.
The auction ceremony for the fourth edition of this franchise cricket tournament is scheduled to take place on June 11, with the tournament itself set to be held from July 31 to August 22.

These players are among the select few who have secured contracts prior to the auction, alongside David Miller, Matthew Wade, Shakib Al Hasan, and Tabraiz Shamsi.
The tournament will be played at three different venues: Hambantota, Colombo, and Kandy, with the defending champions, Jaffna Kings, aiming to retain their title.
It is worth mentioning that all of these cricketers will also be representing the national squad in the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup 2023, with Babar Azam leading the team.
In related news, Naseem Shah has recently been signed by Leicestershire CCC on a short-term deal for the start of the Vitality Blast as cover for Naveen-ul-Haq.
With this signing, Naseem Shah becomes the ninth Pakistani player to participate in the ongoing County Championship and Vitality Blast in England, representing different clubs.
