According to Indian media, 10 lakh children appeared for the 11th and 12th class exams in the state of Andhra Pradesh, out of which 61% of the 11th class results and 72% of the 12th class results.
According to media reports, after the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate announced the results of class 11th and 12th exams on Wednesday, 9 suicides of children were reported in the next 48 hours.
Indian media reports that girls are also among those who commit suicide due to failure in exams and most of the children who commit suicide belong to prestigious educational institutions.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, DY Chandra Chowdhury expressed his condolences to the families of the victims while expressing regret over the incidents of suicides by students and expressed surprise that where mistakes are being made in our educational institutions.
