Pakistan cricket team’s skipper, Babar Azam, and vice-captain of the Test team, Mohammad Rizwan, have achieved another milestone by becoming the first cricketers ever to join Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Programme on The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS).
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the news through a press release, stating, “World number one ranked ODI batter and Pakistan cricket team captain, Babar Azam, and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, the vice-captain of the Pakistan Test cricket team, are the first cricketers to join the Harvard Business School’s executive education program, The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS), along with their mentor, Talha Rehmani, Founder and CEO of Saya Corporation.”

Babar and Rizwan will join a distinguished list of celebrities and top athletes who have participated in this prestigious program, including Kaka, Edwin van der Sar, Gerard Piqué, Oliver Kahn, Brandon Marshall of the NFL, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade of NBA’s Miami Heat, and renowned Hollywood stars such as Channing Tatum and LL Cool J. The program aims to bring together global influencers in the sports, media, and entertainment industries.
The program will be held from May 31 to June 3 at Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts. Following the program, the duo will engage in various community activities in the United States until June 13.
Expressing their excitement, both cricketers emphasized the value of learning and sharing their experiences.
Babar stated, “As a lifelong learner, I am thrilled to join this world-class program at Harvard. I am eager to connect, explore, listen, learn, grow, and contribute to communities worldwide. I am certain that there is much to learn from extraordinary athletes and top business executives in the entertainment, media, and sports industries who come from different corners of the world.”
Rizwan added, “It is a tremendous honor to represent Pakistan on such a prestigious global platform. We are going to the BEMS program at Harvard to learn from the best and share our journey and experiences with others. I am confident that this will be an exciting journey, and I look forward to sharing our learnings with future cricket superstars.”
Professor Anita Elberse, the program chair, expressed her delight in welcoming Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to the Harvard Business School and the BEMS program.
