The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has served a notice to the late mother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at his Lahore residence for the assessment of luxury house tax.
The notice, issued on Thursday, stated that Imran Khan owes Rs3.6 million in arrears under the luxury tax, and if no compliance is made, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would be approached.
The late Shaukat Khanum, Imran Khan’s mother, passed away around 38 years ago in 1985, but the property remains in her name. An Excise and Taxation team was dispatched to deliver the notice to Zaman Park, Lahore.

An ex-parte assessment will be conducted if there is a failure to comply with the notice, according to an excise officer. The official also denied political victimization and stated that the Excise Department had decided to assess all luxury homes of two or more than two Kanals.
