Former member of the Punjab Assembly, Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri, has made a plea to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to leave the country as he believes Khan is not safe there. Sharaqpuri expressed his concerns at a press conference in Sharaqpur on Sunday, stating that if something were to happen to Khan, the country would break up.
He further claimed that no institution could shield Khan anymore and that the nation had high hopes for him. Sharaqpuri, who has a religious following in the area, was elected as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) in the last general election on a PML-N ticket but later created a `rebel’ camp in the party and lent his support to former CM Usman Buzdar.
After the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, he formally joined the PTI.

He expressed his concern that the economic crisis in Pakistan is severe, and people are struggling to provide for themselves. Sharaqpuri dismissed the cases against Khan as bogus and stated that Khan was fighting against violators of the constitution.
Sharaqpuri also commented on the future of general elections, saying he did not see them happening in the next two years and questioning what the Supreme Court could do in such a situation. He also warned the opposition coalition, the Pakistan Democratic Movement, not to stand against any institutions of the state, claiming that they were trying to destroy Pakistan like Iraq and Libya.
