Reham Khan, a British-Pakistani journalist and former wife of ex-prime minister Imran Khan, recently drew a comparison between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its rival political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Her remarks were prompted by a derogatory comment made by Chaudhry Ashfaq, a former PML-N member of the provincial assembly, regarding a picture of Reham with her husband. Reham had shared the picture on her social media account, depicting her playfully pulling her husband into a shop with a sign that humorously stated, “No pets allowed, husbands okay (leash optional).”
Ashfaq shared the picture and remarked, “No Pets allowed. You stand outside,” seemingly suggesting that Reham was being referred to as a “pet.” In response, Reham clarified that she was pulling her husband into the shop because the sign explicitly stated, “husbands okay.”
“It literally reads ‘Husbands okay.’ I’m literally pulling him in. PMLN supporters, don’t become PTI,” Reham wrote in her reply.
However, as the PML-N MPA’s comment drew criticism on social media, with users finding it inappropriate, Ashfaq eventually deleted the picture from his Twitter account.
In December of the previous year, Reham announced her third marriage with Mirza Bilal, sharing a picture from their simple Nikkah ceremony in Seattle. In the caption, she mentioned that her husband, Mirza Bilal, chose not to wear gold as per Muslim tradition.
Her second marriage to Imran Khan lasted a mere 10 months. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and divorced in 2015. Reham later published her autobiography in 2018, titled “Reham Khan,” which revolved around her marriage to Imran Khan, who was subsequently removed from power through a no-confidence motion in April of the following year.
Following her divorce from Khan, Reham continues to face criticism from PTI supporters.
