The Punjab government has announced to the sale of sugar at Rs 95 per kg till Eid-ul-Fitr. According to the notification, the distribution of cheap sugar will be on the basis of population, 20 thousand metric tons of cheap sugar will be sold to the public at designated sales points for the 11 crore population of Punjab.
The highest quota of sugar will be given to Lahore 2023 MT, Faisalabad 1431, and Gujranwala 912 MT. A quota of 708 metric tons has been allocated for Sialkot, 628 for Kasur, and 863 metric tons for Multan. Apart from this, a 983 MT quota will be allocated to Rawalpindi, 458 MT to Sahiwal, and 673 MT to Sargodha.

The decision to sell cheap sugar was made in a meeting between Federal Minister for Food Tariq Bashir Cheema and Sugar Mills Association. The recent price of sugar at the utility store is Rs 91 per kg.
