It seems that the PTI has finalized a list of 297 candidates to contest the Punjab Assembly polls, while the PPP has also finalized its list of nominees for five divisions of central Punjab. The local party leadership will issue tickets to the PPP candidates once they receive orders from the high command. The PTI chief, Imran Khan, summoned a meeting of regional and district presidents to distribute tickets to selected candidates across the province. The Punjab Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on May 14.
According to a source, the party presidents will distribute the party tickets for the selected candidates to their respective districts before the Sehri time so that the nominees can file their nomination papers with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday morning.
The ECP has set April 20 as the deadline for the submission of party tickets by candidates contesting the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for May 14.
An audio clip featuring a conversation between PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry and an unknown person, identified as Chaudhry Hafeez, about a ticket for a Faisalabad constituency, was circulating on social media. Senator Chaudhry confirmed the clip’s authenticity to Dawn.

In the audio, Hafeez asks whether a meeting with Imran Khan could be arranged to request a PTI ticket for the PP-144 constituency. The caller also says that Senator Chaudhry did not inform him how much of a donation was required for the party and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital. In response, he suggests that the candidate should donate at least Rs10 million to the party fund during a meeting with the PTI chairman.
