An Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) source has revealed that Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali has proposed the date of April 16 for the provincial assembly’s elections in 2023.
The source added that the KP governor responded to the letter of ECP regarding the announcement of the elections.
It is estimated that ECP would require 54 days to properly prepare for the upcoming elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ECP has called a meeting on Wednesday to discuss preparations for upcoming elections. However, the governor of Punjab hasn’t responded to the suggestions yet.

Haji Ghulam Ali further said that if elected members fail to take charge until June 28 then he will take necessary steps as advised by ECP under Article 224A(4) of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973.
He expressed his confidence in the Election Commission’s ability to hold fair and transparent polls during elections and also asked political leaders to put their trust in the ECP.
Considering all these factors, it is likely that further details regarding the election process will be made clear by the Election Commission of Pakistan in due course once they complete their preparations. Note that the schedule for general elections will be announced soon.
