In Islamabad, a high-level meeting was held on Wednesday night to review the country’s situation and discuss future strategies on constitutional and legal issues. The meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was attended by senior officials and leaders of the ruling coalition parties.
In an official statement issued after the meeting, it was announced that the ruling coalition would convene a huddle of heads of parties after Eidul Fitr to take the national consultation process to the next stage. The process aims to engage with all parties within and outside parliament regarding the upcoming general elections.
The meeting reviewed the previously stated position of holding the general elections on the same day under the caretaker governments, as per the constitutional procedure. The participants confirmed that the process of pre-consultation and negotiations regarding the holding of elections is underway among the coalition parties. To this end, the prime minister has already formed a committee.
The participants emphasized that, as politicians, they have never closed the door of dialogue to anyone, and no Democrat can do so. They reiterated that the coalition government has expressed its willingness to engage in meaningful, serious, and constitutionally-bounded negotiations at every stage since the presentation of the economic pact.

The statement concluded by affirming the government’s commitment to upholding the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability. The ruling coalition parties are expected to continue their consultations in the coming weeks to reach a consensus on the electoral process and other critical issues facing the country.
