WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is developing a much-anticipated functionality allowing users to silence calls from unidentified numbers.
The feature will be found in the settings menu, and if activated, calls from unknown numbers are always quiet, but they will still appear in the calls list and notification bar, according to Whatsapp.
WhatsApp said that the new function would dramatically reduce spam calls. Hackers and other unnecessary calls have made spamming calls a developing issue in recent years.
WhatsApp lets people ban and report these callers, and users may finally prevent getting calls from unknown numbers by muting them, which are frequently connected with spam calls.
The option to silence unknown calls is now under development and will be included in a future app update, according to WABetainfo.
