LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N has decided not to issue tickets to any candidate for the general elections in Punjab.
According to the party sources, the leadership has decided that the nomination papers of the League candidates will not be withdrawn for the time being and consideration will be given to issuing party tickets to the candidates after the court decision. That is why it has been decided not to issue party tickets till the court decision.
Party leader Nawaz Sharif will take a decision in this regard on whether Muslim League-N will participate in the upcoming elections or not. In light of the court decision, there is a possibility of calling an important consultative meeting of the party after Eid al-Fitr.
According to the party sources, the League leadership says that the position of the Muslim League regarding the May 14 elections is very clear. Application for ticket and lion sign of any candidate shall not be submitted to Election Commission.
It should be noted that according to the election schedule, the Election Commission has to allot party symbols to the candidates today. Meanwhile, the party leaders are of the opinion that the Muslim League-N has still not boycotted the Punjab election, nor have tickets been issued to the candidates. Our petition in the Supreme Court is that we do not accept the May 14 election. Boycott will happen when candidates withdraw papers.
