In a significant development, a police officer allegedly involved in the murder of Mufti Abdul Qayyum was arrested by the authorities in the Golestan Johar area of Karachi.
The arrest has come as a breakthrough in investigating the high-profile case, which had sparked widespread outrage and demands for justice.
The officer is now in custody and is expected to be questioned by the authorities regarding the murder.
According to the police, Mufti Abdul Qayyum’s murder was ordered by the police intelligence officer Muhammad Atiq. Geo News has obtained the photograph and identification documents of the accused police officer Atiq.

Officials say that the accused, Atiq, was watching the murder incident live on the CCTV camera. Mufti Abdul Qayyum was also killed in front of the accused Atiq’s house, and the police officer Atiq was in contact with the accused before the murder.

The accused, Atiq, was recently transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency and continued to perform duties at many sensitive and essential places. Police officials have also stated that Atiq had hired killers to murder two more individuals. Mufti Abdul Qayyum was shot and killed on March 21 in Golestan Johar due to a land dispute between the accused and the victim.
