A missing teenage girl from Karachi was found in Lahore by police after a month-long search, but the story has taken an unexpected turn.
According to the police, the girl had married the man accused of kidnapping her of her own free will. The case has raised questions about consent and the legal age for marriage in Pakistan.
A teenage girl who went missing over a month ago from her home in Karachi has been found in Lahore, according to the FIR lodged by her family.
The Shah Faisal Colony police said the girl, between 12 and 13 years old, had been reported missing on February 13. An FIR had been registered under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of her family, naming Abdullah as the suspected kidnapper.
Following raids in Peshawar and Lahore, the police found the girl who had allegedly married the suspect.
According to Korangi-SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai, a teenage girl reported missing by her family over a month ago was found in Lahore, allegedly married to the suspect of her own free will.

The girl, who was 12 or 13 years old, went missing on February 13, and an FIR was registered by her family, who had named Abdullah as the suspected kidnapper. The police conducted raids in Peshawar and Lahore and found the girl, who had reportedly married Abdullah with her consent.
Currently, her marriage papers are being verified. This is not the first such case, as last year, another teenage girl from Karachi, Dua Zehra, went missing and was later found “married” to a boy in Punjab.
