The Lahore High Court stopped the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from holding a rally at Minar Pakistan.
Lahore High Court Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the petition of PTI leader Hamad Azhar against the implementation of Section 144. Hamad Azhar’s lawyer took a stand that Section 144 cannot be enforced after the election schedule is released. The court should declare the caretaker Punjab government’s move illegal and issue guidelines regarding Article 144 in the future as well.
The court restrained the PTI from holding a rally in Minar Pakistan on Sunday and remarked that you should sit with the IG Punjab and the Chief Secretary today and make a strategy. All of you should solve this issue together. Let the system work.
The court said that if you want to hold a meeting, plan it at least, fifteen days in advance. For God’s sake let people work, let life go on. Let the system run. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till Friday. After the release of the election schedule, the caretaker government of Punjab applied for enforcement of Section 144.
