ISLAMABAD: The High Court has ordered the holding of municipal elections in Islamabad within 120 days and there will be a ban on increasing the number of UCs before the elections.
A hearing was held on intra-court appeals against the decision of the local body election in Islamabad. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Islamabad High Court heard the appeals.

The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs appeared before the court. During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that now the legislation has been passed, are there 125 union councils established now?
The government has kept the power to increase more USCs, I think there is no need to increase union councils for ten years now, once elections are held, whoever wants to come can come.
The DG Law Election Commission told the Chief Justice that they will conduct local body elections in Islamabad in 120 days, they will make new constituencies, and schedule them according to the amendment law.
