The Sindh High Court has asked for details of cases of sexual assault in the province and has sought a response from the government regarding implementing the Anti-Rape Trial and Investigation Act 2021.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer pointed out that although laws and police reform measures have been introduced, they must be implemented more effectively.
The lawyer also mentioned issues with the judicial proceedings in cases of sexual assault. The court has asked for a report on the current state of sexual assault cases in Sindh and has requested the government’s response.

The Sindh High Court held a hearing on an application for implementing the Anti-Rape Trial and Investigation Act 2021 in gang rape and sexual abuse of girls in Sindh.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that the law exists but needs to be implemented, a police reform law has also been made but has yet to be implemented, and judicial proceedings in cases of excesses are illegal.
The court notified the Prosecutor General of Sindh and asked for details on sexual assault cases, including the number of cases where the accused were acquitted or convicted. The court adjourned the hearing until May 9.
