India has overtaken China to become the most populous country in the world.
This was revealed in new data released by the United Nations.
According to the data released by the United Nations World Population Fund, the population of India has reached 1.428 billion.
In comparison, China’s population is currently 1.425, which means India’s population is 2.9 million more than China’s.
This is the first time that India has replaced China as the most populous country in the world.

According to the data, although it is not clear when India’s population exceeded China’s, we can say that China’s population started declining last year, while India’s is increasing.
50% of India’s population is under 30 years of age.
It should be noted that China’s Department of Statistics said on January 17, 2023, that the country’s population is 1.412 billion and the population has decreased for the first time since 1961.
Census data was supposed to be released by India in 2021, but it has not been released so far as the census process has been delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic.
