The International Day of Love is celebrated worldwide on February 14 as Valentine’s Day. On this day people give flowers, chocolates, and other gifts to their loved ones and express their love. Just like the rest of the countries, this day is also celebrated with enthusiasm in India.
However, this time the Modi government has issued a strange instruction to its citizens especially to celebrate valentines day.
According to Indian media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s right-wing government has declared February 14 as ‘Cow Hugging Day’ and has asked citizens across the country to express their love by hugging cows on this day. The Animal Welfare Board of India said we have declared February 14 as ‘Cow Hug‘ Day after consulting the federal Animal Husbandry Ministry.

The board stated that the invasion of western civilization has made our culture and heritage forgotten. Considering the numerous benefits of cows, embracing them would be a very emotional and loveable act. It will also increase our individual and collective happiness.
It should be noted that as always right-wing Hindu extremist organizations, condemn the celebration of Valentine’s Day, claiming that such festivals are corrupting Indian culture.
Statues of Saint Valentine are also publicly burned in India on valentines day. Extremist groups attacking couples in parks and restaurants is a common act. If found guilty of dating, many of them are forcibly married by police on the spot.
