The Federal Minister for Petroleum, Mossadegh Malik, has promised to take stern action against those who hoard petroleum products and create artificial crises. He noted that oil prices will not be increased under any circumstances and will only be adjusted according to the global market at the appropriate time.

Speaking at a press conference, the Minister said that the government is taking measures to improve the economy so the country’s people can benefit. He added that he hopes that by taking such steps, the country’s economy will develop, and the people will be content.
The availability of petroleum products in the country is not a cause for concern as there have been reports of petrol outages. However, the government is taking proactive steps to ensure the continuous supply of petrol, gas and electricity to the public. Strict action will be taken against those found hoarding petrol, and their licenses will be cancelled. Moreover, the price of oil will remain unchanged under any circumstances.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is acting against petrol pump owners deliberately spreading rumours of shortage and taking action against such dealers and owners. Petrol LCs remain open, and there will be no closures. The petrol price will be reviewed on February 15, and Mosadak Malik has stated that the price will stay the same before that date.
The district administration is working with the provincial chief secretaries to ensure that the closure of petrol pumps due to an artificial shortage of petroleum products is dealt with swiftly. OGRA encourages the public to report any rumours of shortage or closure of petrol pumps so that necessary action can be taken.
