ISLAMABAD The federal cabinet has approved to collect additional 76 billion rupees from electricity consumers.
According to the sources, additional collections from electricity consumers including K Electric will be made in the next 4 months. The amount will be received towards the power holding company’s loan.

Through an additional surcharge, consumers will be charged from March to June 2023. An additional surcharge of Rs 3.39 paise per unit will be levied on electricity consumers.
The approval was taken from the federal cabinet through the summary circulation of the division. It is noteworthy that the sword of increasing gas prices is already hanging over the heads of the people. Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has called a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) this evening to discuss the increase in gas prices.
