Former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Buzdar announced his decision to quit politics following the events that took place on May 9. In a press conference, Buzdar condemned the events and expressed his unwavering support for the Pakistan Army.
During his address, Buzdar called upon all stakeholders to put aside their egos, leave their respective parties, and come to a consensus for a better future of Pakistan. He also urged the authorities to release all those who were found innocent and unjustly detained.
“I request all stakeholders to exit their parties and think for the better future of Pakistan,” stated Buzdar.
It is worth mentioning that several PTI leaders and lawmakers, including Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, Imran Ismail, Ali Zaidi, Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Malik Amin Aslam, Mahmood Moulvi, Aftab Siddiqui, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, among others, have left the PTI party following the incidents of vandalism on May 9.
In a similar political development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president of PTI and former chief minister also resigned from his party positions. Pervez Khattak, in a press conference, expressed his condemnation of the attacks on military installations that occurred on May 9 after the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Khattak stated that he would consult with his colleagues to determine his future plans. He emphasized the need to prevent a recurrence of the unfortunate events that took place on May 9, emphasizing that they were detrimental to the country.
Usman Buzdar’s decision to quit politics in light of the May 9 events, along with the resignation of other PTI leaders, reflects a significant shift within the party and the broader political landscape of Pakistan.
