Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, announced his backing for seasoned politician Jehangir Tareen on Saturday, stating that he will move forward in collaboration with Tareen.
Addressing the media after a meeting with Jehangir Khan Tareen, the defector from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Tanveer Ilyas expressed his intent to join forces with Tareen, stating, “We and Jehangir Tareen want to move forward together.”
When asked about the formation of a new party, Tanveer Ilyas mentioned that consultations were underway and hinted at forthcoming positive developments, stating, “You will hear good news soon.”
Accompanying Ilyas, former Punjab Minister Nauman Langrial emphasized their willingness to welcome anyone ready to depart from PTI and its narrative.
Earlier, Tanveer Ilyas held a meeting with Tareen to discuss the current political situation in the country and explore the prospects of establishing a new political party. The future of politics was a key topic of discussion between the former AJK PM and the Tareen group. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Awn Chaudhry also attended the meeting.
Jehangir Tareen has plans to launch his new political party later this month and is currently engaged in consultations with his political associates. He has been conducting important meetings with prominent figures and his legal team in Islamabad.
Furthermore, Tareen has been consulting with his legal team to challenge his disqualification. After concluding his meetings in the federal capital, the politician is expected to travel to Lahore today.
