The Punjab Government has appointed Pakistan’s first Hindu girl, Dr. Sana Ramchand Gulwani as the Assistant Commissioner of Hassanabdal.
At only 27 years old, Dr. Gulwani has already achieved a remarkable milestone as the first Hindu girl to be appointed to this much-important public office in Pakistan. She has already taken charge of her duties as administrator and AC of the town.
Dr. Sana Ramchand made history in 2020 when she became the first female from the Hindu community to join the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) after passing the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam. Hailing from Shikarpur, in the Sukkur area, Sana had also specialized in surgery prior to taking the CSS.

Sana Ramchand had a remarkable journey. Despite coming from a minority community, she has never faced any discrimination or difficulty in any department. As a Pakistani Hindu, she proudly declared that she is Pakistani first and Hindu later.
Sana said that It was my family’s dream to see me in the medical profession, and I am proud to have made it come true. Despite the small number of officials in the municipality, I was able to achieve my goals of entering both the medical profession and the administration.
Hassanabdal Tehsil is proud to have both its administrative seats occupied by members of the minority community. Further, the tehsil municipal officer, Henson Karamat also belongs to a minority (Christian community).
