The weather department has reported that a low-pressure system situated above the Arabian Sea is anticipated to transform into a cyclonic circulation within the next 24 hours.
According to Dr. Sardar Sarfraz, the Chief Meteorological Officer of Sindh, a low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Arabian Sea at a latitude of 11.0 N and a longitude of 66.0 E, approximately 1,550km south/southwest of Karachi.
With favorable meteorological conditions, it is expected that the system will further intensify into a depression, known as a strong low-pressure area, and initially move in a northwest direction. The Meteorological Office is closely monitoring the situation, and currently, no coastal areas in Pakistan are under any immediate threat.
In the event that the low-pressure area consolidates into a cyclonic storm, it will be named Cyclone Biparjoy, as designated by Bangladesh.
It is important to note that the development and progression of tropical cyclones require continuous monitoring and assessment to ensure the safety and preparedness of the affected regions. The relevant authorities and meteorological departments will continue to provide updates and guidance regarding the situation.
