An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has approved the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi until June 27 in three separate cases related to violence, as reported by News.
The court has accepted Qureshi’s bail pleas, with each case requiring surety bonds worth Rs100,000. Consequently, police action against the PTI leader has been halted until the specified date.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the PTI Vice Chairman and former foreign minister, was released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on June 6. Speaking to the media outside the jail, Qureshi asserted that he holds the “flag of justice” and intends to meet with the PTI chief to discuss the country’s current political situation. Despite the challenges faced by the party, he urged supporters not to lose hope, assuring them that the sun of justice will rise again.
It should be noted that Qureshi was initially taken into custody by the police in Islamabad on May 9, following nationwide protests triggered by the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The PTI leader was subsequently re-arrested on May 23, moments after his release from Adiala Jail. While Qureshi had been released on court orders, he was immediately taken into custody once again.
