Lahore High Court restrained caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi from inaugurating development projects.
Justice Shahid, Karim of the High Court, heard the petition of citizen Haroon Farooq to remedy the smog. The court rejected the request to allow the bakeries to remain open for one more hour at night during Ramadan while issuing a notice of contempt of court to the Chairman Planning Commission and seeking his reply.
The court notified Chief Secretary Punjab and Chairman PND and summoned them personally. The court issued a contempt notice for blocking the budget for modern machinery related to crop residues while also stopping the WAPDA department from cutting trees in Lahore.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that he would put the tree cutters in jails, as smog is hazardous for the lives of Lahoreites. Member Judicial Commission informed the court that WAPDA officials cut trees while straightening the lines. The court remarked that the Kalma Chowk underpass was inaugurated by the caretaker chief minister, which is not the authority of the caretaker chief minister.
The court was convinced that traffic jams in the city were due to PSL matches, underpasses and other construction projects. Does the LDA want citizens to die in vehicles in traffic jams?
